Doctor Strange, the second entry in Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is set to make its debut in a few weeks time. Audiences have been given plenty of opportunity to prepare for what star Benedict Cumberbatch will bring to the superhero table, including a recent 15-minute IMAX preview event that put emphasis on the trippy visuals this film will be utilizing. There is a lot to be excited about, so why not get a look at even more exclusives coming the fans’ way.
As is the case with almost every Marvel film, let alone big IMAX releases, there are exclusive posters to be given out to the first in line. Now, based on these photos, everyone can have a look at the new Doctor Strange poster fans can get their hands on, assuming they are AMC Stubs members.
From the look of the images below (h/t IGN), audiences will apparently receive some psychedelic blacklight posters that are sure to add some colorful flavor to their walls. For two back-to-back weekends (November 4 through November 13), AMC Stubs members can get their hands on this Doctor Strange poster designed by Randal Roberts when they see it in IMAX.
The blacklight poster certainly provides further emphasis on how the film will delve into the notion of different levels of reality. It also adds to the list of innovative ways audiences can get excited for a film and the potential rewards they reap. Much like the recent Kong: Skull Island poster seen at NYCC, making a blacklight poster may seem like something out of the 70s, but a lot of fun can be had from going that extra mile to make something seem cooler to the various fans who are excited for Doctor Strange. There’s also the various symbols and images in the poster, which are sure to hint at (if not just flatly spell out) some key elements in the film.
Ideally more IMAX posters and exclusives like it will have fun in this way. Not everyone has a blacklight bulb to get that extra bit of joy, but it is a neat way to further extend how cool it can be to get an exclusive poster. The only problem is how these are limited to AMC Stubs members. This has happened in the past as far as the theater chain and being some kind of a member, but one could only wish everyone seeing a big movie like this, after paying IMAX prices, would be enough to entitle the audience to a poster. Still, anyone seeing the film can now revel in what kind of cool poster they will receive, depending on where they see the film.
